Tour professionals

David J. Russell

David or "DJ" as he is known, designed both courses at Archerfield Links. Turning professional in 1973, he has had many European Tour successes and 2010 saw him capture his maiden win on the European Seniors Tour at the PGA Seniors Championship. His experience and design flair make him one of the up-and-coming course designers, with Archerfield Links his most distinguished to date. Another career highlight was acting as assistant to Ryder Cup-winning Captain Ian Woosnam in 2006 and winning the Fuji Masters in Japan in November 2011.

Catriona Matthew

Our first honourary Member of the Club, Catriona is a respected member of both the European Ladies tour and the LPGA tour in America. Following a distinguished amateur career, Catriona in winning the 2009 Women's British Open became the first ever Scottish lady to win a major before taking the 2011 Aberdeen Ladies Scottish Open title at Archerfield. Alongside this famous victory she has won three LPGA titles, four ELPGA titles and is a six-time Solheim Cup player. Each year Catriona hosts the Archerfield Links Ladies' Day, details of which are available within the members' area.

"You've got to be tough to play any of the Open courses and Catriona has that toughness. I knew that she had been born and brought up on a links so I wasn't a bit surprised when she came out on top. I'm proud to be a member of the same club as she is."
